N2  - This research evaluated teenagers beliefs in relation to the attempt of suicide in five contexts of explanation for suicidal act. It was analyzed the importance attributed to the suicidal factors in order to investigate whether one receives more prominence than the other and if they vary depending on the context. The sample was composed by 478 students between 15 and 18 years old. Sociodemographic data was collected and we applied a set of questions about suicidal factors in a fictional attempt of suicide. Average comparison tests were executed among the contexts, suicidal factors and sociodem-ographic profile. Finally, the Despair, the Parental Separation and the Inadequacy Feeling were important contexts for a supposed explanation of the suicide attempt. © 2019 Universidade Federal do Parana - Departamento de Psicologia.
