N2  - In the article, there are presented the results of implementation of the state policy aimed at reduction of suicidal activity in population of Belarus in 2008-2018. The statistical data include the numbers of suicides in different population groups and administrative territories. There are discussed the results of analysis of the causes of suicides obtained in catamnestic assessment of psychological, social, emotional and medical conditions of attempters. Suicide prevention is seen as interdepartmental approach aimed at assessment of suicide situation, development of the strategies of reduction of the suicide rate tailored to the local contexts.
