TY - JOUR PY - 2016// TI - Comparison of emotional and psychological indicators according to the presence or absence of the use of electronic cigarettes among Korea youth smokers JO - Information (Japan) A1 - Jee, Y.-j. SP - 4525 EP - 4532 VL - 19 IS - 10A N2 - The purpose of this study was to investigate the Comparison of Emotional and Psychological Indicators According to the Presence or Absence of the Use of Electronic Cigarettes among Korea Youth Smokers by using data from the 2015 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey(KYRBS). The data were analyzed using the SPSS / Win 21.0 program of a total 11313 middle and high school students analyzed. Variables were examined using descriptive statistics and t-test. Students who had used e-cigarettes within the last 12 months went through sadness and hopelessness, which was statistically significant (χ2=17.004, p <.001). There was no significant difference between the two groups in suicidal ideation within the last 12 months(χ2=2.441, p=.119). Students who had used e-cigarettes planned to commit suicide within the last 12 months, which was statistically significant(χ2=10.652, p=.901). Students who had used e-cigarettes attempted to commit suicide within the last 12 months, which was statistically significant (χ2=9.638, p=.002). Students using e-cigarettes showed a significantly higher level of subjective happiness (t2=-3.37, p=.001). Furthermore, the findings of this study suggest that e-cigarette sales to minors should be controlled further and that more attention should be paid to the mental health conditions of ado-lescents. ©2016 International Information Institute.
