TY - JOUR PY - 2013// TI - Neoliberalism or neuroliberalism? The emergence of gladiatorial ethics JO - Utopia y Praxis Latinoamericana A1 - Biagini, H.E. A1 - Fernández Peychaux, D.A. SP - 13 EP - 34 VL - 18 IS - 62 N2 - This article establishes communicational channels between neoliberalism and the characteristic psycho- political disorder of our time: neuroliberalism. To support this conceptual leap, the nexus among three features is shown. First, an individualistic revolution that naturalizes the ideological position of virtuous selfishness, establishing the possessive character of human rights and justice. Second, the political staging of neuroliberal discourse as suicide. Third, the psycho- social disciplining of individuals, which ends up producing a needed de-politicization in order to maintain a mercantilization that immunizes society against any genuinely emancipatory project.
