SP - 360 EP - 366 VL - 28 IS - 7 N2 - Clinical and epidemiological findings suggest that up to a third of schizophrenic pateints have a comorbid alcohol abuse/dependence. Clinical characteristics of dual diagnosis schizophrenics are noncompliance, increased rehospitalization rate, increased risk for suicide attempts and delinquency, among others. Possible psychotherapeutic and pharmacological treatment strategies are discussed in this paper.
