TY - JOUR PY - 2017// TI - Self-destruction of men who commit spousal homicide JO - Revue Internationale de Criminologie et de Police Technique et Scientifique A1 - Leveillee, S. A1 - Doyon, L. A1 - Touchette, L. SP - 189 EP - 203 VL - 70 IS - 2 N2 - Studies indicate that self-destruction is common among men committing spousal homicide (uxoricide). However, very few focused on the psychosocial specificities of these men who committed suicide or attempted suicide as a result of homicide. Our study focuses on uxoricides followed by self-destructive behaviors committed between 2007 and 2012 in the province of Quebec. A total of 37 cases (31 with suicide and 6 with attempted suicide) were analyzed using the Grille d'Analyse Multidimensionnelle de l'Homicide Conjugal. Separation appears to be an important element of understanding uxoricide-suicide. The presence of psychological distress and personality disorders constitutes other important elements to take into consideration for prevention. © 2017, Polymedia Meichtry SA. All rights reserved.
