N2  - This article describes recommended traffic detector designs for use at both rural and urban intersections that are not part of coordinated systems. The basis of the recommendation is the safe and efficient performance provided by the designs through their ability to provide dilemma zone protection, and their operational efficiency as demonstrated using newly available evaluation procedures.<p />
