TY - JOUR PY - 2002// TI - Public Opinion and Traffic Flow Impacts of Newly Installed Modern Roundabouts in the United States JO - ITE journal A1 - Retting, Richard A. A1 - Luttrell, G A1 - Russell, ER SP - 30 EP - 32 VL - 72 IS - 9 N2 - A study was performed to determine public opinion regarding modern roundabouts, both before and after their construction, in several communities and to evaluate the impact of roundabout construction on traffic flow and intersection performance. Both telephone and field surveys were performed. Roundabouts reduced overall vehicle delays, reduced the proportion of drivers that came to a stop and reduced the level of traffic congestion.
