TY - JOUR PY - 2003// TI - A study of accidents with lead versus lag left-turn phasing JO - ITE journal A1 - Box, Paul C. A1 - Basha, PE SP - 24 EP - 28 VL - 73 IS - 5 N2 - A study was conducted in Mesa and Scottsdale, AZ, USA, to compare accidents at intersections with leading left-turn phasing to accidents at intersections with lagging left-turn phasing. Eight intersections with lead left turning and 14 intersections with lag left turning were studied. Results suggest that decisions concerning the use of lead or lag left-turn phasing should be based on considerations other than LTHO accident potential.
