TY - JOUR PY - 2013// TI - Evaluation of the effectiveness of collision-prevention support information at a blind intersection and analysis concerning the acceptable reliability of the sensors JO - Transactions of Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan A1 - Mochizuki, Makoto A1 - Kubotani, Hiroyuki A1 - Nii, Yoshiki A1 - Suzuki, Keisuke SP - 621 EP - 626 VL - 44 IS - 2 N2 - This study uses collision-prevention support information at a blind intersection as an example to discuss a methodology for estimating the collision mitigation ratio of the collision avoidance information system. It also discusses the methodology of estimating the optimal value of the collision mitigation ratio based on the Cost-Benefit Analysis and the acceptable reliability of the sensors. Through Monte Carlo simulations and a driver model, the frequency of collisions to the vehicle crossing the blind intersection and the acceptable delay time of the information to achieve the optimal value of the collision mitigation ratio was estimated.
