TY - JOUR PY - 2013// TI - A statistical analysis of arm kinematics effect on occupant dummy chest deceleration on passenger side in frontal impacts JO - Transactions of Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan A1 - Honda, Mariko A1 - Ohnishi, Yoichiro A1 - Komamura, Tatsuya A1 - Yasuki, Tsuyoshi SP - 567 EP - 572 VL - 44 IS - 2 N2 - In cases of frontal impact testing, it is found that chest deceleration can increase as a response of the dummy hand contact with the instrument panel. In this paper, an originally developed detailed FE dummy model is used to reveal this mechanism. The results show that, for the cases with high torque of the dummy arm joints, the chest deceleration tends to increase as the contact force between the dummy hand and the instrument panel increases.
