TY - JOUR PY - 2019// TI - Evaluation of driver assistance system indicating predicted signal aspects on road JO - Transactions of Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan A1 - Marumo, Yoshitaka A1 - Yamazaki, Koki A1 - Suzuki, Hironori A1 - Michitsuji, Yohei SP - 1145 EP - 1150 VL - 50 IS - 4 N2 - This study examines a driver assistance system to improve safety and fuel economy at a signalized intersection by indicating predicted signal aspects on road. The predicted signal aspects are calculated by the current vehicle velocity and the signal cycle. The driver assistance system informs the driver visually of the predicted signal aspects on the road by assuming a Head-Up Display (HUD). The driving simulator experiments are carried out to evaluate the driver assistance system. The assistance system encourages the earlier deceleration and prevents the emergency braking behavior or the risky passage through the intersection. In addition, the assistance system avoids the unnecessary deceleration and improves the fuel economy.
