TY - JOUR PY - 2020// TI - LiDAR and radar sensor fusion for localizing autonomous vehicles JO - Transactions of Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan A1 - Hirano, Daichi A1 - Yoneda, Keisuke A1 - Yanase, Ryo A1 - Mohammad, Aldibaja A1 - Suganuma, Naoki SP - 824 EP - 829 VL - 51 IS - 5 N2 - Localization is one of the techniques for enabling autonomous vehicles. In previous studies, LiDAR based localization system has been proposed and tested. However, there is a problem that the system is weak to work with rain and snow conditions. Therefore, Millimeter Wave Radar (MWR) based localization system has been proposed. MWR is robust to weather changes and can sense objects through snow. Accordingly, this paper proposes a localization system based on integrating LiDAR and MWR to improve the accuracy of vehicle estimated position during autonomous driving.
