TY - JOUR PY - 2006// TI - Studies on Safety Problem of High Gravity Dams Higher Than 200 m With Consideration of Hydraulic Fracturing Under Water Pressure JO - Shuili Xuebao A1 - Jia, JS A1 - Li, Xian-yun A1 - Zheng, CY SP - 1509 EP - 1515 VL - 37 IS - 12 N2 - The safety of high gravity dams with consideration of hydraulic fracturing under high water pressure was studied. A model test for simulating the hydraulic fracturing of concrete with different ages was carried out. Based on the results of the experiment, a numerical analysis by means of FEM was implemented. The study results of Grand Dixence gravity dam (H = 285 m) and a given gravity dam (H = 216.5 m) show that it is reasonably to consider the hydraulic fracturing influence in design specification for gravity dam higher than 200 m.
