TY - JOUR PY - 2018// TI - Application of urban fire spreading simulation to the large fire in Itoigawa City JO - Journal of the Japan Society for Safety Engineering A1 - Takanashi, Ken-ichi A1 - Hosokawa, Masahumi SP - 48 EP - 55 VL - 57 IS - 1 N2 - METHODS for predicting the spread of fires in urban areas have been actively studied in the past, but in recent years, advances in computer technology have made it possible to perform complex calculations at high speed, so macros have been used for a long time. In addition to various calculation methods, a method of calculating the spread of fire in individual buildings by incorporating advanced calculations such as combustion phenomena and radiant heat transfer has been developed. These urban fire spread simulations are used to predict the damage caused by simultaneous multiple fires during an earthquake, to formulate firefighting activity plans in advance, and to formulate urban plans. This paper introduces some examples of urban fire spread simulation, and also uses the urban fire spread simulation software developed by the Fire Research Center for the fire 1) that occurred in Itoigawa City on December 22, 2016. The applied results are introduced.
