TY - JOUR PY - 1990// TI - Drivers' speed behaviour on rural road curves JO - Traffic engineering and control A1 - Kanellaidis, George A1 - Golias, John A1 - Efstathiadis, S SP - 414 EP - 415 VL - 31 IS - 7-8 N2 - This paper describes drivers' speed behavior on rural roads in Greece. The concept of operating speed has been recognized as a basic tool for the determination of individual road element values and for achieving consistency in horizontal alignment design. The relation between operating speed V sub85 on curves and various geometric design parameters has been investigated. The results definitely suggest that the operating speed is strongly related to the curvature and to the desired speed.
