TY - JOUR PY - 2019// TI - Active longitudinal load transfer control for improving vehicle's stability JO - International journal of vehicle performance A1 - Ahangarnejad, Arash Hosseinian A1 - Melzi, Stefano SP - 2 EP - 17 VL - 5 IS - 1 N2 - This paper investigates the effectiveness of an active suspension system designed for regulating the normal force distribution during transients in a passenger car. The proposed control logic modifies the front-rear load distribution to influence the understeer-oversteer response of the vehicle; in particular, actuators of active suspensions are used to generate a system of inertia forces on the car-body for producing a longitudinal load transfer even at constant speed. The proposed control logic is tested numerically with a 14 degree-of-freedom vehicle model: open-loop manoeuvres like lane change and step steer were considered. Simulation results put into evidence that the system can improve of vehicle's stability during fast transients.
