TY - JOUR PY - 1995// TI - Intelligent control of power wheelchairs JO - IEEE engineering in medicine and biology magazine A1 - Cooper, R.A. SP - 423 EP - 431 VL - 14 IS - 4 N2 - As motor control and human/machine interaction research progresses, power wheelchair controllers become more sophisticated. As a result, more people are provided with independent mobility. The challenge for engineering is to provide safe and effective mobility in a dynamic environment. At present, there are a number of methods available for attaining this goal. Finally, through thoughtful research and design, power wheelchair control will progress along safe and effective pathways towards providing users independent and self-guided mobility.
