N2  - Three particular tactics of communication of terrorism are examined in this study: social noise, the signature method, and the conduit metaphor. An important theoretical model, social noise refers to the art of being conspicuously or even obnoxiously noticeable through noisy or controversial acts. Examples are Propaganda by the Deed and martyrdom. The signature method refers to a repetitive tactic used by a terrorist group that becomes strongly linked to the operational activities of that group. Modern-day examples are suicide bombings, kidnappings, hijackings, and beheadings. The conduit metaphor refers to the terrorists' exploitation of mass media for conveying their messages.<p />  <p>Language: en</p>
