TY - JOUR PY - 2011// TI - Trauma systems: Do trauma teams make a difference? JO - Trauma (Sage) A1 - Tai, Marcus C.-K. A1 - Cheng, Raymond C.-H. A1 - Rainer, Timothy H. SP - 294 EP - 299 VL - 13 IS - 4 N2 - This review describes the various components of a trauma team, and emphasises its value as one of many parts of a trauma system. The evidence for the team is weak and based on expert opinion and experience. Nevertheless, the evidence that high quality trauma systems improve survival, and that a trauma team is a vital component of all such systems is compelling. There is no evidence that a particular component of the team is essential. The trauma team is likely to have most impact on patients with moderate severity of trauma and probability of survival.
