TY - JOUR PY - 2017// TI - Acute kidney injury: a rare complication of mothball (naphthalene) poisoning JO - Saudi journal of kidney diseases and transplantation A1 - Ekambaram, Sudha A1 - Chandan Kumar, K. A1 - Mahalingam, Vijayakumar SP - 1412 EP - 1415 VL - 28 IS - 6 N2 - Naphthalene poisoning is an uncommon poisoning due to its pungent smell, taste, insolubility in water, and poor absorption from the gut. It rarely occurs in suicidal attempts in adults and in accidental ingestion by children. We present a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge encountered while treating a child with naphthalene-induced acute severe hemolytic anemia and acute kidney injury from accidental ingestion.
