TY - JOUR PY - 1981// TI - Racial issues in the training of group workers JO - Journal for specialists in group work A1 - Davis, Larry SP - 155 EP - 160 VL - 6 IS - 3 N2 - The author argues that the issue of race in group treatment has been given insufficient attention by those responsible for training practitioners. The article focuses primarily upon Whites who will be leading groups that have some or all Black members; however, it also addresses issues pertinent to the Black group leader. Specifically, the author suggests that group practitioners should have knowledge of racial dynamics in groups, e.g., leader-member statuses and group composition. Trainers of group practitioners are strongly encouraged to offer their students opportunities to role play, rehearse, and practice their group skills with both Blacks and Whites.
