N2  - It is estimated that each year 700,000 to 4 million people, primarily women and children, are trafficked around the world. Human trafficking involves exploiting people after transporting them, often beyond the borders of their homeland. In this modern form of slavery, traffickers use threats, intimidation, and violence to force victims into prostitution, domestic servitude, farm or factory labor, or debt bondage. This special issue of the "Journal of Social Work Research and Evaluation" provides current efforts at defining the problem and suggesting research strategies and approaches for increasing the knowledge base on human trafficking. That human trafficking is a global problem between countries and within countries around the world is clearly elucidated in this issue's contents.
