N2  - This study examined predictors of role and job stress among detention care workers. Using a sample of detention care workers in two metropolitan detention centers in a southeastern state, the study found that role stress was correlated significantly with supervisor trust, job security, and a punitive orientation, whereas job stress was correlated significantly with supervisor trust and a treatment orientation. Personal variables, such as age, gender, race, and education, did not contribute significantly to either role stress or job stress. Implications of these results for the management of stress in detention settings are discussed.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>
