TY - JOUR PY - 1977// TI - MMPI and demographic correlates and predictors of female prison escape JO - Criminal justice and behavior A1 - Scott, Norman A. A1 - Mount, Michael K. A1 - Duffy, Patricia S. SP - 285 EP - 300 VL - 4 IS - 3 N2 - MMPI scores and demographic factors were examined for differences between female adult felons who had escaped (N = 71) from incarceration and those who had not escaped (N = 97). Escapees were significantly younger, were more often imprisoned as juveniles, had lower MMPI L scores, but scored significantly higher on MMPI scales F, Pd, Pt, Sc, and Ma than non-escapees. An MMPI predictor model comprised of L, D, and Sc scores maximally accounted for 19% of the escape variance and was stable on cross-validation. Demographic factors were less useful and less stable escape predictors than MMPI variables.
