Researchers have urged frontline health workers in India to identify and counsel pregnant women who are subjected to domestic violence to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality, after finding a range of complications of pregnancy that can result from such violence. Jaleel Ahmad, senior programme officer at the reproductive health division of the Population Council, in New Delhi, and colleagues wrote, “Gender-based violence (GBV) is a common form of domestic violence, done against women by their husbands.” ....
