The aim is to develop and implement a tool for hospital staff to facilitate assessment of patient needs, suicide risk, and subsequently decide on appropriate care for the patient admitted because of a suicide attempt. The Tool for Psychosocial Care and Assessment is currently piloted in six general hospitals within a catchment area. The implementation strategy includes training of staff within the hospitals. A one group pretest and post-test design study evaluates the evolution in attitudes and self-efficacy of the trained personnel.
