N2  - The political culture of the Copala Triqui region has been characterized by factionalism and armed confrontation among leaders, neighborhoods, and political organizations. The political violence has led to the emigration of more than half of the population. Many families have settled in colonies close to the agricultural regions of northwestern Mexico.
