TY - JOUR PY - 2002// TI - Examination of a deployed airbag for DNA and cosmetics to answer the "driver question" JO - Journal (Canadian Society of Forensic Science) A1 - Kelder, K. A1 - Burton, B. SP - 165 EP - 175 VL - 35 IS - 3 N2 - Post-motor vehicle collision analysis of a driver's airbag can assist the accident reconstruction investigators and the court in criminal and civil litigation by providing an answer to the driver question. This paper describes a case in which a combination of analysis for cosmetics and saliva provided support for placing a female suspect behind the steering wheel at the time of the crash. The authors believe the combination of this evidence in post-motor vehicle crash analysis, which assisted the Court in making its decision in October 1999, to be a first in Canada.
