TY - JOUR PY - 1997// TI - An unusual use for the herbicide glyphosate: A case report JO - Journal (Canadian Society of Forensic Science) A1 - Sandercock, P. M. L. SP - 191 EP - 197 VL - 30 IS - 4 N2 - The following is a report on a case involving a suspected tampering of a lawn tractor engine via the introduction of the herbicide RoundupĀ® into the engine oil. The active ingredient in RoundupĀ® is the mono(isopropylammonium) salt of glyphosate. The product formed during the reaction of RoundupĀ® in engine oil was successfully reproduced in the laboratory and is characterized by FTIR. Some salts of glyphosate were prepared in this laboratory and a comparison to the product formed in the engine oil is made. The product formed in the engine oil is probably a mixture of glyphosate salts.
