TY - JOUR PY - 1991// TI - The Changing Face of Rape? JO - British journal of criminology A1 - Soothill, Keith SP - 383 EP - 392 VL - 31 IS - 4 N2 - This article focuses first on the changing media coverage of rape trials since the Second World War. Secondly, using the work of Lloyd and Walmsley (1989) as the point of comparison, the study contrasts the dramatic shifts in the court profiles and the media profiles of rape cases between the early 1970s and the mid-1980s. These profiles are not converging, but diverging. It is maintained that this study helps to explain why it continues to be so difficult to convince the world of the reality of rape.
