TY - JOUR PY - 2013// TI - Is in utero exposure to antidepressant drugs really safe? JO - Acta paediatrica A1 - Hakan, Nilay A1 - Aydin, Mustafa A1 - Ozdiller, Sukran A1 - Zenciroglu, Aysegul A1 - Okumus, Nurullah SP - e530 EP - 1 VL - 102 IS - 12 N2 - We read with great interest the paper by Austin et al (1) that evaluated the impact of in utero exposure to antidepressant drugs on infants' neurodevelopment. Using the Bayley Scales of Infant Development (BSID-III) to assess neurodevelopmental at 18-months-of-age, they reported that in utero exposure to antidepressants - mostly serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SRIs) - had no impact on cognitive, motor, and/or language development outcomes.
