This paper unpacks the concept of research utilization in order to understand the complexity surrounding the development, dissemination and adoption of evidence-based crime prevention. By drawing on the research utilization literature the paper aims to provide insights into key challenges faced by academics and crime prevention professionals in generating evidence-based crime prevention, that is, understanding research utilization and knowledge development, and adherence to evidence-based approaches.
