N2  - The article presents the preliminary results of a major research project on road accident related injuries in the Socialist Republic of Croatia. In 1981 and 1982 there were 21732 road accident casualties reported in Croatia. Data were studied according to type of road user, sex, age, time of a road accident occurrence (hour, day of the week, month), time of death (at the location of an accident, during transport to hospital or in hospital) and according to diagnosis, including alcohol abuse/intoxication. It also discusses patterns of accident related injuries.<p />
