TY - JOUR PY - 1938// TI - The earthquake of November 14, 1937 JO - Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America A1 - Lynch, Joseph SP - 177 EP - 189 VL - 28 IS - 3 N2 - In this preliminary paper on the earthquake of November 14, 1937, the S and SKS curves of the quake (h = 250 km.) are compared with those of Gutenberg and Brunner for the same depth. The S curve of both Gutenberg and Brunner is confirmed from 50° to 100° within a few seconds. The SKS curve of Gutenberg is confirmed from 85° to 105° within a few seconds, while that of Brunner over the same range would seem to have an average error of 13 seconds. From 105° to 115° Brunner's curve is in fair agreement with that of the author, while Gutenberg's diverges rapidly after 105° to a difference of 14 seconds at 115°. The SKKS-SKS interval decreases with increasing distance between 103° and 107°.
