N2  - Violence to women causes destructive outcomes, such as an icrease in HIV infected women and orphans due to the death of HIV infected parents. The violence is one of the main causes of the deterioration of the social service system. There are various programs fighting against HIV/AIDS, planned and conducted in line with the national health policy of Kenya. These are the prevention of HIV infection, increasing the capacity of Integrated Voluntary counseling and Testing (VCT) services, increasing treatment services particularly with Anti Retrovirus Treatment (ART), improvement of health systems to cope with emerging issues related to HIV/AIDS in the society, arrangement of social support specifically for social groups affected with HIV/AIDS issues including HIV carriers, AIDS patients, orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC). The emphasis is on establishment of workable linkage between the prevention of domestic violence and the care provision systems to victims including sexual transmitted infections (STIs) issues. Advocacy is necessary based upon the above viewpoints in strengthening the surveillance system on DV and sexual violence.<p />
