N2  - This article presents an overview of the 10 university-based interdisciplinary training programs in child maltreatment funded in 1987 by the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect. The organizational structure, student composition, and academic requirements of the program are described. A more detailed description of one of the programs based in a medical school is presented as a model for replication. The specific clinical and didactic components of the program's curriculum are included.
