N2  - Epidemiologic data on the incidence of tendon injuries in these actively engaged in sports are missing. The significance of the tendon injury lies in the prognosis for any further sporting activities, the risk of chronicity, and thus the impairment of functional capacity (fitness). Pathogenesis, clinical features and treatment of the most essential tendon injuries are presented, based upon a literature search.
