TY - JOUR PY - 1982// TI - Safety analysis of production line in the light metal industry JO - Journal of occupational accidents A1 - Saarela, Kaija Leena SP - 335 EP - 340 VL - 4 IS - 2-4 N2 - The aim of the study was to find a practical way to reveal possible accidents on a production line where man-machine tasks play an important role. The manufacture of barrels from steel sheet was selected as the object of the analysis. The main method used was an ergonomie job safety analysis, which was tested and modified during the analytical process. Comparable material was obtained by applying another method to estimate the level of accident risk. Accidents which had occurred on the production line during the previous two years were analyzed. Operational disturbances on the production line were studied in condensed form. Some environmental factors were also considered. The experiment showed that a detailed analysis of jobs is a good approach to revealing possible accidents on a general production line. Methods which make it possible to compare jobs or tasks with each other are useful in the detection of areas which require further attention. The planning of preventive measures require a good general picture of the object; it is therefore necessary to examine the object from a sufficiently multifarious perspective.
