N2  - In Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy (MSBP), a caregiver fabricates or induces illness in another individual. In most cases, the parent is the perpetrator and the child, the victim. MSBP is a form of child abuse that in extreme cases may result in death. A large percentage of health care providers are not familiar with the syndrome.
