TY - JOUR PY - 2009// TI - Child welfare professionals' experiences of childhood exposure to domestic violence JO - Child welfare A1 - van den Bosse, Sandra A1 - McGinn, Melanie A. SP - 47 EP - 63 VL - 88 IS - 6 N2 - This study explores the impact of childhood exposure to domestic violence and using family intervention techniques. In interviews, 12 child welfare professionals explored their experiences with the violence, the family interventions, the lifelong impact, and its influence on their career choice. The results pointed to a need for creating more opportunities for children to talk about their lives with professionals, for improved screening techniques, and for a preference for interventions focusing on rehabilitation for the batterer, which maintained family preservation.
