N2  - The author notes that two years ago he wrote an article examining some of the objections that had been raised in recent publications against the conception of instinct in general and especially against the use of it as a fundamental conception for social psychology. In spite of this endeavor to stem what seemed to be a reactionary and obscurantist tide, the tide has flowed on in the form of books and articles of similar tendency, that is to say, tending to discredit and reject the conception of instinct as a fact of human nature.
