TY - JOUR PY - 1919// TI - The emotional and their mechanism in warfare JO - Journal of abnormal psychology (1906) A1 - Williams, Tom A. SP - 15 EP - 26 VL - 14 IS - 1-2 N2 - Studies the psychology of emotions in warfare. There are two kinds of cases of men who break down due to emotional shock, or the culmination of prolonged emotional strain: (1) those who are fatigued and have low powers of inhibition, and (2) the psychogenetic cases. In the latter case, the mental attitude needs to be changed. Accounts of cases in which this has been achieved, have been given. The principle of cure used in these cases was re-conditioning. Cases of acute emotional syndrome and persevering pseudo-emotivity have been presented, along with a discussion of the mechanism of fear states in them.
