Excitation and inhibition play a fundamental rĂ´le in determining the activities and behavior of the individual. The erethitic temperament is a mobile one, characterized by great activity of mind and body (excitation). The kolytic temperament is more calm and controlled, with a tendency to passivity of mind and body (inhibition). (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
