TY - JOUR PY - 1935// TI - Psychological tests of drivers JO - Highway Research Board proceedings A1 - van Duzer, W.a. SP - EP - VL - 1935 IS - N2 - A driving license examination should reveal the following about a potential driver: (1) is he physically and mentally able to control a motor vehicle and to realize readily the hazards of the highway? (2) will he be able to form proper driving habits? (3) does he know the motor vehicle laws, regulations and rules of the road? written short answer tests appear to be superior to oral tests in amount of time required, validity, and overall usefulness. it is suggested that reaction time be measured at the time of initial licensing and periodically thereafter. The driver whose reaction time is slow shows a tendency to have more accidents.
