JO - ITE journal SP - 18 EP - 21 VL - 56 IS - 11 N2 - All available knowledge of experiences and research of transportation engineering professionals regarding road bumps was assembled, and the findings were presented in a briefing paper. The paper included a summary of the data from research conducted to date by transportation engineering professionals and the experiences of urban traffic engineers as reflected in responses to two questionnaires. The questionnaire responses are discussed and the findings are summarized. There was consensus that road bumps are inappropriate and should not be installed on any class of road above local streets. Further findings relate to the benefits of road bumps, their effectiveness, and the experiences of the individual respondents.
