SP - 16 EP - 16 VL - 28 IS - 6 N2 - Article recounting traffic sign theft problem in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. The city, with a population nearing 130,000, has experienced 28 sign thefts in 1990. Almost every section of road and intersection in the rural area has been affected, and one intersection has been robbed eight times in 1991. The chief concern of the City staff is not cost, but the safety aspect of high speed rural intersections left uncontrolled, and possible delay in emergency response due to missing street signs. Suggestions for elimination of this type of vandalism are requested by: City of Oshawa, Department of Public Works, Traffic Engineering Division, 50 Centre Street South, L1H 3Z7 Ontario.
