Patterned after strategies for relapse prevention, the ASTP is a cognitive behavioral approach to the secondary prevention of alcohol problems. Format and context of the six group sessions are detailed, and process considerations are discussed. Results are summarized for two controlled investigations of the ASTP with young adult drinkers.
