TY - JOUR PY - 2006// TI - An investigation on the effect of transient assistant torque input on steering effort JO - Review of automotive engineering A1 - Mouri, H A1 - Kubota, Masaru A1 - Horiguchi, N SP - 101 EP - 108 VL - 27 IS - 1 N2 - This paper describes a new algorithm of an electric power assistant steering system control. A problem found in a vehicle with ordinary steering and the reason why it occurs physically is clarified. It is apparent at low damping of the transfer function of steering angle / steering torque at high speed. This is derived from interference between the steering system and vehicle system. We strictly solved the controller using a simple model, and then in order to maintain the stability of the controller, we approximated a strict solution as a simple controller that is described as a first order non-minimum phase transfer function. Lastly, we validate our result of analysis thorugh a driving test conducted with an actual vehicle.
