TY - JOUR PY - 1981// TI - Major facial trauma--the effect of legislation JO - Journal of otolaryngology A1 - Ellis, D. A. A1 - Wallace, I. R. SP - 255 EP - 260 VL - 10 IS - 4 N2 - In January 1976, new seat belt legislation was enacted and speed limits in Ontario were reduced from 70 to 60 miles per hour. This has led to a significant decrease in major facial trauma reducing the medical experience of the surgeons handling these problems. Major facial trauma, however, is often complex and may require the services of neurosurgery and ophthalmology. It compels the otolaryngologist to be aware of these complications so that effective and efficient treatment may be instigated. A recent case illustrates these complications.
